FREE RADICALS
Imagine what happens when a piece of iron is exposed to water or air moisture. Its atoms soon interact with oxygen and slowly corrosion sets in eventually converting entirely to rust and finally completely disintegrating.
A good coat of varnish would have protected this piece of iron against the elements and lengthened its life span. The same can be said about our skin.
Free radicals are the true “killers” of skin cells. The oxidative stress they place on the skin causes damage to the collagen and elastic fibers (the support structure of epidermis) and in a determinate fashion contribute to premature skin cell aging and the appearance of wrinkles. An efficient skin defense to combat oxidation and to prevent free radical damage is warranted.
This protection naturally exists in the form of potent anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E and Vitamin C.
