VITAMIN E (tocopherol)

Vitamin E is fundamentally an antioxidant so therefore is extremely important in protecting us from the damage caused by free radicals. It helps in the process of tissue repair and is one of the factors in the regulation of blood clotting. Topical vitamin E reduces the Transepidermal Water Loss (TEWL) an improves skin hydration as confirmed by studies of the long-term application of vitamin E (5% concentration measured with a corneometer). Further studies have verified the effect of increased skin hydration after the application of vitamin E with the greatest results coming after application of pure vitamin E.

Vitamin E is a molecule with an antioxidant action that contains anti-inflammatory proprieties which absorb UV radiation. It's been amply demonstrated that supplementation of topical vitamin E is more effective in increasing the antioxidant capacity of the skin as opposed to when take taken orally.
